DAZN Bet Receives AGCO Approval Ahead of Ontario Launch

Streaming group DAZN has received approval from Ontario’s gambling regulator, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), to launch its DAZN Bet platform in the province.

AGCO issued the licence on January 16, allowing DAZN to offer sports betting and online casino games to players in Ontario. The registered domain for DAZN’s platform is on.daznbet.ca.

A DAZN spokesperson had previously said that the group aimed to have all regulatory and other obligations cleared by the end of the first quarter in 2026. DAZN was founded in 2016 and operates in over 200 countries.

In 2022, it launched its DAZN Bet platform in partnership with iGaming operator Pragmatic Play across various European markets, including the UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. DAZN’s sports betting product provides an in-stream betting service for users, converging the viewing and betting experience.

Ontario serves as DAZN’s entry into the North American-regulated market.

Ontario Third Quarter Gaming Revenue Pays out Nearly $32 Million to Communities

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has recently announced its third quarter payments for the 29 communities that have land-based casinos, which totals just under $32 million.

Since the start of the 2025-26 fiscal year, the communities have received $113.4 million, with the division based on a Municipality Contribution Agreement that is applied across land-based casino sites, and a graduated gaming revenue scale based on revenue a casino generates.

“As it has for decades in Ontario, land-based gaming continues to serve as a source of good local jobs and generates vital economic activity in the communities that host gaming sites. From helping build neighbourhood parks to supporting community programs, proceeds received through the Municipality Contribution Agreement with OLG help make municipalities all across the province better places to live and work,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming.

The Chatham-Kent municipality has reportedly received $441,738 from Q3 earnings, bringing total receipts to $1.4 million so far this fiscal year. Peterborough received $624,898, with its total for the budgetary year reaching $3.1 million, and the City of Sania has received $79,270, bringing its fiscal year total to $278,473.

OLG Gives Windsor, Ontario $2M for Hosting Caesars Casino

Windsor has received just over $2 million from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) at the end of the third quarter, bringing total payments that the city has received since the beginning of OLG’s fiscal year in April 2025 to $7.4 million.

Windsor has hosted its one casino since 1994, opening Casino Windsor that year, and then underwent a rebranding to Caesars Windsor in 2008. Since 1994, Windsor has generated $138.8 million in payments from OLG.

“Year after year, a share of the revenue from Caesars Windsor through OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement has been an important source of funding for Windsor, helping to deliver vital services and helping to enhance the quality of life of local residents,” said MPP of Windsor-Tecumseh, Andrew Dowie.

Dowie added that the Windsor community, as well as Ontario as a whole, benefits from OLG’s payments, which can be reinvested in communities across the province. To date, communities in Ontario have received up to $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
