Scientific Games Chosen to Power Lottery Sales for Loto-Québec

Betting and lottery technology provider Scientific Games has announced that it will power Loto-Québec’s digital and retail lottery operations through its Monumentum ecosystem, which already powers the likes of global lotteries like The National Lottery through Allwyn UK, the New Mexico Lottery, and Lotto New Zealand.

Scientific Games was chosen following a “competitive procurement process” by Loto-Québec, and will now supply the lottery with its central gaming system to replace the previous Corporation-managed legacy system.

According to Scientific Games, its technology will maximize revenue for the lottery, optimize its performance, as well as curate a better lottery experience for Québecers.

“We are honored to further expand our more than 50-year successful relationship with Loto-Québec as its central gaming systems provider,” said John Schulz, President, Americas & Global Instant Products for Scientific Games. “Our advanced system is engineered for the future, delivering the performance, security and operational efficiencies that will support Loto-Québec’s sales and sustainability.”

iGaming Ontario CEO Praises Ontario’s Open Gambling Market

Attending a panel at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) hosted in Las Vegas, iGaming Ontario CEO Joseph Hiller made his first public comments since replacing the previous iGaming Ontario CEO, Martha Otten, praising Ontario’s open gambling market.

The panel titled Proven. Practical. Ontario’s Model in Action was chaired by Canadian Gaming Association CEO Paul Burns and reported on by CDC Gaming’s David McKee. According to McKee, Hiller was a panelist alongside CEO Dr. Karin Scharr of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and Sarah McCarthy, CEO of the Responsible Gambling Council.

Hiller commended the Ontario market, citing that since its launch, it has generated just over $8.6 billion and is home to over 50 operators and 80 gambling sites. “This is one of those few instances where government did get it right,” he said at the panel. “The stats kind of speak for themselves.”

He went on to say that iGaming Ontario’s role in the market is to “foster business partnerships” with operators, adding that if they succeed, then Ontario and its regulators will grow too.
