ToonieBet Signs Deal With Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Canadian sportsbook ToonieBet has signed a multi-year deal with CFL franchise Hamilton Tiger-Cats to become the club’s exclusive online gambling partner.

The agreement is an expansion of ToonieBet’s broader involvement in Canadian football. As part of the deal, two dedicated activation spaces for fan engagement will be created at Hamilton Stadium. The sportsbook will also gain naming rights for the club level at Tim Hortons Field, while also rolling out various competitions and other fan initiatives across both its and the Tiger-Cats digital channels.

“We are excited to welcome Tooniebet to the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Family”, said Kyle Lohnes, Vice President of Partnership and Retail at Hamilton Sports Group. “They are focused on delivering an engaging, fan-first experience, and together we looked forward to delivering unforgettable moments at Hamilton Stadium and across our digital platforms”

The partnership is due to get underway with activities linked to the upcoming CFL Draft Party and will feature stadium branding, in-venue activations, and digital campaigns.

Gaming Corps Launches Football-themed Content in Ontario

Swedish game developer Gaming Corps has launched its gaming content in Ontario, thanks to a deal with provincial agency, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

The launch will mean a range of Gaming Corps titles becoming available on OLG’s online casino platform in the province, including football-themed releases such as Goals to Glory: Football Fever, Penalty Champion: Goals to Glory, and Goals to Glory: Instant Blitz. Other games, including 3 Pigs of Olympus, 4 Gym Pigs: Porky Power, and Big Bucks Blitz, will also be available.

OLG oversees lottery products, internet gaming, land-based gaming facilities, and charitable gaming operations across the province, and has operated there since 1975.

The Chief Commercial Officer at Gaming Corps, Graham Greensmith, said Ontario was an important market for the company. The Director of iCasino Product, Partnerships and Development at OLG, Ian Shelswell, also commented on the deal, saying it would provide players with more variety.

Alberta Regulator Finalizes Online Gambling Ad Rules

Alberta’s gambling regulator, Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) has signed off its advertising standards for the launch of the province’s regulated gambling sector on July 13.

The rules will apply to as many as 50 online casino and sports betting companies that are expected to join the market, and mirror advertising restrictions already in place in Ontario.

Under the rules, companies will be banned from offering gambling inducements, bonuses, and credits to the general public, and such offers will only be permitted through direct communication to players who have signed up for marketing messages.

The regulations also ban advertising that targets minors, while active and retired athletes are only permitted to appear in ads related to responsible gambling

Operators must also avoid promoting gambling as a financial investment, suggesting that losses can be recovered with more play, or implying that spending more increases your winning chances. They must also avoid suggesting that skill can affect the outcome of games of chance, such as slot games.

Alberta’s market will also include a province-wide self-exclusion system covering online and land-based gambling, and AGLC also said it reserves the right to insist that operators amend or remove ads that it believes raise integrity or social responsibility concerns.
